Partnership working
The success of our work is based on our ability to:
- programme lively, imaginative events for a wide range of ages and with a great variety of different types of artists;
- run these in a well organised fashion, safely and efficiently
- market them effectively so as to attract large appreciative audiences
- look after our artists and our audience well
- work in partnership with a number of different organisations to the mutual benefit of everyone. We are keen to collaborate with commercial organisations, educational and cultural bodies, community groups , local authorities and government agencies. We try and plan any collaboration to satisfy the needs and wishes of the partners. This often means that a project may be somewhat different from its original conception!
Sponsors
There are always commercial organisations looking to extend their influence into the public domain and events are becoming an increasingly important way to achieve this. We may be approached directly by potential sponsors and PR agencies (on behalf of their clients) or we may approach organisations that we think may wish to work together with us.
Over the years we have had many successful partnerships - none of our sponsors have withdrawn feeling they got less than they were expecting. Most join us for a specific event (or series of events) that suits their needs at the time. All of them have worked with us more than once. All our sponsors are important, and we work closely with them to make sure the project delivers that they need.

Local Authorities and Public Bodies
Most of our work is funded by these. We are now frequently contracted to deliver a particular service for a Local Authority; we may also request grant aid for particular projects. We always write a clear proposal explaining what we wish to do and how the funder may help. Once a project is over, we write a detailed evaluation and may meet the funder directly to discuss how they wish this to be presented.
We receive ongoing support from: ARTS COUNCIL OF ENGLAND, NW MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
For particular projects we have received support from: ESMEE FAIRBAIRN FOUNDATION, GRANADA FOUNDATION, ARTS COUNCIL OF ENGLAND VISITING ARTS METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCILS ACROSS THE NORTH WEST ASSOCIATION OF GREATER MANCHESTER AUTHORITIES BBC LIVE MUSIC URBIS MANCHESTER LEISURE HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND AWARDS FOR ALL THE BARING FOUNDATION COMMUNITY CHEST THE MERCERS COMPANY
We work closely with foreign cultural institutes to enable us to bring artists from their country to Manchester. We have ongoing relationships with Institute Cervantes (Spain), Copec (Catalonia) and Alliance Française (France).
Voluntary groups and Cultural Organisations
We are always keen to develop partnerships with cultural bodies across the region. We know most of the cultural community around greater Manchester and some in Liverpool. Our most important active relationship is with the Director of the x.trax showcase, and to a lesser extent to the organisations who promote indoor projects as part of that.
We are developing stronger links with Manchester's Contact Theatre with whom we jointly promoted Dutch Theatre Company Vis a Vis in 2001, Circus Ronaldo in 2003 and 2006; and Theater Titanick 2006.
We regularly consult community arts organisations and encourage them to use our events as targets for their work with groups, if appropriate. We are also very keen to work across cultures, using our events as ways for people to meet each other and enjoy time together.
Suppliers
We have many regular suppliers, who we use for a wide range of services, such as print, design, event stewarding, hire of sound and lighting equipment, stages, radios, tents, generators and other plant.
