Welcoming the Light, Carlisle
A torchlit parade in Carlisle to celebrate the coast to coast illumination of Hadrian's Wall.

Thursday 29 April - Sunday 2 May 2010, 8pm-10pm

Sufi Meets Zen, Furness Abbey, Barrow
A unique evening full of the flavours of Asia, including a twilight performance from acclaimed South Asian Dance Company, Akademi. Tickets required.

Saturday 29 - Sunday 30 May 2010 (Sat 9pm, Sun 1pm -11pm)
Lakes Alive, Whitehaven Harbour
An exciting new outdoor festival around the Harbour. A Saturday evening opening by Sarruga (Spain) with their spectacular procession of giant fish will lead into a daytime street arts festival on Sunday and a repeat of the Saturday night Sarruga show on Sunday evening. FREE

We Built This City, Carlisle City Centre
A public construction extravaganza - using thousands of large cardboard boxes and the imaginations and ingenuity of kids and families, Polyglot Theatre (Australia) will help build a magnificent city of dreams in one day in Carlisle City Centre. FREE

Barrow’s unique International Circus Festival, Zircus Plus, is back with a huge variety of contemporary circus performances from across the globe.

Into the Woods

A nature trail with a difference as your woodland visit comes alive with strolling performances, shows and installations for the whole family to enjoy. FREE

The Cabaret of Dr Caligari
West Cumbria towns and villages

The popular Made in the Lakes commission of 2009 returns. The chaotic Dr Caligari arrives and gets the audience to help create a unique auditorium. Oddities and acrobats are conjured out of thin air to entertain, but once out of the box they refuse to disappear! An afternoon of cabaret with music, dancing, comedy and spectacle. FREE.

Lakes Alive, Penrith

Penrith is set to be animated like never before as Lakes Alive returns with a bold and bright performance festival, featuring the best companies, puppeteers and artists from across the globe.

Lakes Alive, Maryport Harbour

An extravaganza of sound, light and fireworks signals the final week of Lakes Alive Summer season with an unforgettable evening performance by Commandos Percu (France). FREE.

Mintfest, International Festival of Street Arts, Kendal

The flagship festival of Lakes Alive, Mintfest takes over the whole of Kendal for four says with a mind-boggling array of performances from the very best international artists.
