In 2008 MIA continued to expand into new places taking Streets Ahead to the centre of Liverpool for their capital of culture year. Following this MIA presented a 3rd edition of Feast; Picnic by the Lake, in Manchester’s Platt Fields Park in June. MIA’s focus for 2008 shifted to presenting and collaborating on events outside of Manchester, including working with partners Kendal Arts International to programme Kendal’s Mintfest.
1) Liverpool Streets Ahead – A major street festival commissioned by Liverpool Capital of Culture over the whole may bank holiday weekend.
2) Feast! Picnic by the Lake – another glorious 2 evenings and Sunday afternoon by the lakeside with entertainment and even more tasty
picnics! with X.trax 2008.
3) Carpet of Flowers - A giant pink carpet laid with flowers across Albert Square, Manchester.
4) Urban Moves – dance festival collaboration with Dance Initiative Greater Manchester.
5) Nicole et Martin - Family storytelling circus from Switzerland with Tall Tales from the White Tent, Platt Fields Manchester.
6) Mintfest – A weekend street festival in Kendal, Cumbria with partners Kendal Arts International.
