Thursday 3 - Saturday 5 June, 2010
From Polyglot Theatre (Australia), a building
extravaganza that will bring out the child in everyone!
Imagine a public arena filled with hundreds of
cardboard boxes. Then invite kids and families to come in and build
their own city. You can try to build anything you can think of, as tall
or as wide as you like. Wandering around the new city are construction
experts to help or provide some advice for your creation if needed. Bop
along to the sound of the city with DJs or live bands.
Throughout the day, buildings will go up, be pulled
down, be redesigned, extended, walked through and jumped on, and
reconstructed. At the end of the day, everybody can have fun knocking
down and squashing the whole city into a heap of cardboard rubble, to be
recycled by Eden Community Recycling. We Built This City is as much fun
to watch as it is to do.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through
the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body,
and by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria.
